Nectarines

Nectarines

In Season: A summer fruit, nectarines are generally available from June through September Nectarines are a fuzzless variety of peach, although they are smaller and smooth skinned like plums. There are over 100 varieties of nectarines in both freestone and clingstone categories. Like peaches, this fruit probably originated in China and was then cultivated in ancient Persia, Greece, and Rome. When selecting a nectarine to eat, note that its color does not change as it ripens. Look for a fragrant scent and flesh that gives slightly to the touch. For more information, please visit: www.eatcaliforniafruit.com
